With the new Season of Discovery runes, druids in World of Warcraft Classic have even more build options.
A jack-of-all-trades class, Druids can be difficult to learn in World of Warcraft Classic, but having all the characters available (and a great time traveling in the open world) makes standing crews bearable. In Season of Discovery, Druids Runes not only improves many of the class playstyles but also gives it a coveted skill the Alliance never had before Windfury, via the Wild Strikes Rune.
While many of these WoW Druid runes have been officially revealed, some have only been revealed through data mining and may change with the release of Season of Discovery. Because only one Rune can be equipped per slot, each section below ranks Druid Runes against other Runes in the same gear category.
Updated February 9, 2024, by Eric Petrovich: With the release of Phase Two, the number of Druid SoD Runes has increased to a total of 18, thanks to the addition of two new Rune slots: Belt, and Boots slots. Each class has three new Runes for these two equipment slots, for a total of six new Phase Two Runes a Druid can get. Since SoD Phase Two has only just been released, the locations and ways to obtain each new Druid SoD Rune have not been discovered – although we do know exactly which new Druid Runes SoD Phase Two will bring. This guide to the best Druid Runes in Season of Discovery has been updated to describe the effects of this new batch of runes, and how they rank against each other in each respective equipment slot.
All Ranks of Druid Chest Runes
Fury of Stormrage, Living Seed, Survival of the Fittest, & Wild Strikes
Druids have many builds and playstyles available, and each Rune typically applies to one of its four facets. However, that doesn’t mean some runes aren’t worth occupying over others, even if they don’t quite fit into your build. One such ability for Druids is Wild Strikes. Previously, the Alliance did not have access to Windfury’s ability, but Druid Rune Wild Strikes grants allies the exact same effects. If you’re a druid, this is something most parties need.
Other chest druid runes are far from bad, though. Survival of the Fittest will be a tanking rune for Guardian Druids, Living Seed will be crucial for healing and building support, while Fury of Stormrage will give Balance Druids a great boon for both rage damage and healing at the same time.

Every Druid Leg Rune, Categorized
Lifebloom, Savage Roar, Skull Bash, & Starsurge
Wild Strikes chest runes are the standout among druids, but when it comes to leg runes things get a little more complicated. Again, each of these Runes may seem speculative, but some may be useful to everyone. Skull Bash, for example, gives Druids a reliable interrupt, useful for both damage and Tank druids.
Lifebloom is a great healing rune for Druids, but another HoT can feel stale for a class that relies primarily on HoT. Savage Roar, on the other hand, might end up being the most used ability for Feral Druids, but Balance Druids’ new Rune Starsurge will give them something fresh to experiment with in the casting cycle.
Like Rogue’s Slice & Dice, this skin doesn’t expire when an enemy dies – just make sure to use it before your combo points flop.

All Druid Gloves Runes, Ranked
Lacerate, Mangle, Sunfire, & Wild Growth
The gloves Runes Druids can get in SOD are slightly more applicable to all builds, as melee players have a hard time choosing between Lacerate and Mangle. But balance droids get Sunfire, instant damage, and DoT spell, while healers get Wild Growth, a great AoE heal that starts strong and fades. Sunfire is good, if unreal, while Wild Growth gives support druids a decent emergency heal for group situations.
Lacerate and Mangle compete for the same slot as melee damage Druids, but of the two, Mangle offers the most damage boost. Lacerate Guardian can be useful for Druids, especially thanks to Threat generation, but Mangle is just a straightforward improvement over existing abilities and might be easier for Druids to add.
Sunfire
Tauren characters must find three Lunar Stones in Mulgore. Cast Moonfire on each Stone to reveal a Chest containing the Rune.
