Tekken 8: Fans Rally for Tifa! Will She Join the Battle? Players Speak OutTekken 8: Fans Rally for Tifa! Will She Join the Battle? Players Speak Out

Tekken 8 director Katsuhiro Harada had to speak out after constant requests to make Final Fantasy 7’s Tifa a guest character.

Tekken 8 is finally here, and fans are finally getting their hands on the game’s familiar roster as well as newcomers like Azucena, Victor, and Reina. However, now that we know which characters are in the base roster, attention has turned to potential DLC and guest characters that may be added in the future. In terms of guest characters, there’s only one name on fans’ minds, and that’s Final Fantasy 7’s Tifa Lockhart.

Tifa Lockhart Buzzes on Twitter

Go on Twitter, and you’ll find hundreds of posts discussing Tifa’s possible inclusion in Tekken 8, even briefly trending on the platform. There are multiple Twitter posts from multiple users, with thousands of likes and retweets, that the Tekken 8 team desperately needs to consider as a guest character this time around.

Although she has been requesting a guest role for quite some time now, calls for her to be Tekken 8’s first guest character have been peaking over the past 24 hours. There have been so many requests that Tekken 8 director Katsuhiro Harada even had to acknowledge them via his personal Twitter account, stating that “we all know he’s hot”, and “Nothing has been decided” according to the team presently working on Tekken 8 guest role

While the Tekken series hasn’t had a lot of guest appearances over the years, when they do they’ve been pretty memorable. Negan from The Walking Dead was a completely out-of-left-field guest character in Tekken 7, although it was very welcome and a sign that any popular character in a different medium was on the table. Tekken 7 also saw the addition of Final Fantasy 15 protagonist Noctis Lucelum, which is probably why Tifa’s calls are so strong.

Kiryu from Like a Dragon Gains Fan Support for Tekken 8

Kazama Kiryu from the Like a Dragon series is also another very popular voice from fans as a possible guest character, although she doesn’t get as many requests as Tifa. She’s clearly a very popular candidate among fans and will fit in very well with the rest of the roster given how much of a punch she is in Final Fantasy 7. We’ll have to wait and see if Harada and Square Enix manage to make it happen.

For now, Tekken 8 fans will have to settle for series veteran Eddie Gordo, who was recently revealed to be the first DLC fighter coming after the game’s launch. We haven’t gotten a release date for Eddy, or any indication of who’s coming in the future, but we do know he’ll be added to the roster sometime this spring.
