Death Stranding 2 Title Leaks Online, Unveiling the Weird and Wonderful!Death Stranding 2 Title Leaks Online, Unveiling the Weird and Wonderful!

The allegedly official and extremely strange title of Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding sequel is leaked by a trustworthy industry insider.

Hideo Kojima’s sequel to Death Stranding will be titled Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, a reliable industry insider has said. The source also shared some additional information about the upcoming game, suggesting that more official news will finally arrive in 2024.

Death Stranding 2 was originally announced at The Game Awards 2022 with an extended trailer that included in-engine cutscenes. In true Kojima fashion, the video offered more questions than answers about the game sequel despite its four-minute-plus runtime. Little has been revealed about the game since then.

The title of DS 2 is evidently connected to the original game

And although Kojima Productions remains radio silent, Dealabs’ Billbil-kun has now shared some new information about the game, including its alleged official title: Death Stranding 2 – On the Beach. While this may sound like a rather peculiar moniker to those not familiar with the series, it’s clearly tied to the original Death Stranding which literally spent a lot of time on the beach.

The second DS 2 trailer is expected to be released soon.

Billbil-kun also reported that a second trailer for the game is set to drop in the near future, predicted to be sometime in the next 15 days, so no earlier than early February. This claim ties in with the fact that Sony has held the PlayStation State of Play broadcasts in February for four of the past five years. The only time he deviated from this pattern was back in 2020 when most of his product timelines were pushed back due to the global pandemic. Industry insider Jeff Grubb also believes a new state of play is on the horizon, saying as much during an early January episode of the Giant Boomcast podcast.

As for the video itself, a second DS 2 trailer has probably been in the works for quite some time. Notably, Kojima was spotted in late September editing a State of Play-related Premiere Pro project, though that video has yet to see the light of day.

The famed game designer last mentioned Death Stranding 2 on New Year’s Eve, when he revealed that Japanese voiceover work on the project would begin in 2024. Most English voice-overs are believed to be complete at this point, at least not. Norman Reedus previously let it slip that this phase of the project began in the first half of 2022. In addition to Reedus, Le Seydoux and Troy Baker have also been confirmed to return for the rumored sequel. Targeting a 2025 release.
